About The Programme

Bachelor of computer application (BCA) is an under-graduate degree course in computer applications. With the rapid growth of it industry in India, the demand for computer professionals is increasing day by day. This increasing growth of it industry has created a lot of opportunities for computer graduates. The three years, six-semester BCA programme emphasizes computer application-oriented courses like c++, java, web application development, etc. There are two projects one minor followed by a major in the final semester.

The BCA is a graduate degree course in computer applications for a duration of 3 years. After completing BCA, a student can go for MCA which is a master course in computer application and is considered equivalent to an engineering course (B.Tech/ B.E).

Each semester has a lab course where the students have to do compulsory lab assignments for a minimum of 6 hours per week. Students are free to select the electives offered under the choice-based credit system. Programme equips the students with a sound academic base from which an advanced career in computer applications including the latest developments keeping pace with the industry can be developed. The program also carries out the required analysis and synthesis involved in computer systems, information systems, and computer applications. Under the credit system student has to earn the required number of credits as demanded by the curriculum.

Programme Objectives

  • To learn advanced features of the numerical calculations
  • To learn the measures of central tendency
  • To learn the importance of DBMS in the present scenario.
  • To learn about DBMS architecture, and SQL to interact with database.
  • The purpose of the course is to provide students with an understanding of how to write SQL query and do manipulation in the table.
  • To learn how to create, delete, insert and update tables.
  • To learns advanced features of the c++ programming language.
  • To learn the characteristics of an object-oriented programming language: data abstraction and information hiding, inheritance, and dynamic binding of the messages to the methods
  • The purpose of the course is to provide students with an understanding of the oops concept.
  • To learn how to optimize the solution using oops concept

Minimum Eligibility

  • The candidate should have passed 10+2 (Mathematics with Minimum 45% as per Odisha Government guideline) marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing in final examinations call also apply.
  • Institutions may consider a 5% relaxation in exceptional cases.

Selection Criteria

  • Students would be admitted to the programme on the basis of merit (Percentage of marks secured in 10th and 10th+2/ 12th/ Graduation Board Examination).
  • Candidate may also be called for a personal interview if so desired by the institution.
